Way, way, way back in 1990, the NRDC put out this public service announcement featuring Tom Cruise, Whoopie Goldberg, Demi Moore, Billy Crystal and Warren Beatty discussing the effects of pollution and global warming. Now that the rest of the world is beginning to catch on to the issues we face as a planet, it's nice to know those celebs we all look up to really are ahead of the curve. (At least on this one thing.) Anyways... nothing you don't know here... just scary it's almost 20 years old.
It cracks me up that Kathie Lee Gifford has been called upon to sing for her supper hocking everything from high dollar cruise vacations to household cleaning products. In this 1980s Lysol spot, she shows off her singing chops while extolling the virtues of foaming cleansers. All that time on Name that Tune really paid off, eh Kathie?
This (early 90s?) Ultra Slim Fast commercial featuring Kathie Lee Gifford takes me back to the gabfest days of yore with daily updates of Coty and his eating/pooping/breathing habits. In honor of Ms. Gifford's return to morning tv - I thought I'd post a few of her past advertising endeavors. Enjoy!
Kelly Clarkson was inspired to travel to India after she drank Vitamin Water? Sounds about right. This kooky commercial almost didn't happen since the company almost dropped the pop star as a spokesperson because she was too fat. Seriously? If that's too fat.... then.... ahem.... I suppose I won't be doing in Vitamin water spots anytime soon. I suppose the fact I'm a nobody might keep it from happening too, ha!
Brett Favre and his wife Deanne stroll through town doing their best Monday Morning QB impression in this Mastercard spot. I'm sure it's nice to put the shoe on the other foot. It would be priceless if a full tank of gas only cost $22!
Brooke Shields famous campaign for Calvin Klein jeans in the early 80s was an iconic advertising morment in time. This 1980 spot is where Brooke explains to everyone the importance of gene selection in human evolution. I'm not sure how genes can be passed on while wearing such tight jeans all the time... doesn't that sterilize you? Maybe it's just the men... anyways, Brooke looks hot and demonstrates that she is VERY BENDY!
Chevy Chase gets his clumsy on in this 2003 AFLAC commercial. He's channeling his inner Gerald Ford knocking over everything in the local grocery store.. and of course that cute AFLAC duck makes an appearance or two.

This 80s spot features the spunky actress/singer and her very own chat line with super specials if you call it three times. I wonder if that number still works? If I call it three times I wonder if I'll still get the record and watch? Gotta go try it out...
I'm sure Angelina Jolie was paid an exorbitant amount of money for just getting her makeup done and walking around in these Shiseido makeup spots in Japan. Not the most exciting commercial, but I gotta give it to her... she looks amazing as usual.
